Resumen

Los museos, hacia finales del xix, constituyeron una especie de gramática común para los países latinoamericanos que se encontraban en plena construcción de la modernidad en el mismo momento histórico en que se consolidaba la primera estabilidad política desde la independencia. En el contexto de los museos nacionales, el objeto de la exposición protagoniza el escenario de ese encuentro entre distintas fuerzas sociales. Encarna el diálogo no sólo entre patria y ciencia, sino también entre deuda y herencia, los cuales convergen una vez más en la noción del ciudadano. El espejismo entre objeto y espectador en la producción discursiva de una cuidadanía concreta, será el foco del presente trabajo.

Abstract

By the end of the nineteenth-century, museum institutions constituted a type of common grammar for those Latin American nations that were entrenched in the constructions of modernization during the same era in which the first political stability since independence was under consolidation. In the context of national museums, the object of the exhibition materializes this confrontation between distinct social forces. The object embodies not only the dialogue between fatherland and science, but also that between debt and inheritance, which converge once again in the concept of the citizen. In this context, the mutuality of object and spectator in the discursive production of a concrete citizenry will be the focus of the present study.
